Send the full identity spread and any visa, stamp or endorsement pages requested. The machine-readable zone, photograph and all four edges must be visible.
Passports are not usually apostilled. Ask the receiving body whether it requires a certified copy, additional pages or another formality.
A cropped MRZ, glare over the photograph, a missing visa page or an expired passport can lead to a request for more evidence.
The Albanian passport is a biometric document valid for ten years for adults and five years for minors under sixteen; its data page is made of polycarbonate and it contains a contactless chip. The Kosovan passport follows the same validity logic. In both cases, production falls under the Ministry of the Interior.
It is essential to understand what this document proves and what it does not. The passport attests to the holder's identity and nationality; it does not establish parentage, marital status or place of residence. An authority asking for “proof of civil status” expects a birth certificate, not a passport — even a translated one.
In Albania, passports, like identity cards and, more generally, documents bearing a photograph, cannot be apostilled. There is therefore no point in starting this procedure: it will be refused by the authentication office.
If the other party requires a “legalised” document, there are two options: submit an apostillable document that provides the equivalent information — most often the birth certificate — or have a certified true copy made by a consular authority. Clarify the request before incurring any costs.
Renewing an Albanian passport from France involves an application on e-Albania followed by an appointment at the Albanian Embassy in Paris to record biometric data, with attendance in person compulsory; processing can take up to six weeks. The Kosovan passport is likewise applied for at the Embassy of Kosovo in Paris.
The translation covers the data page and, where they are relevant, the visas, entry and exit stamps or notes added by the authorities. Specify when ordering what the recipient expects: translating every stamped page of a well-travelled passport only makes sense if the application is actually about the holder's travel.
Upload every relevant page through the secure ordering area. For an initial question, use the contact form without attaching sensitive documents.

The document is translated, signed and stamped by the sworn translator. A digital version is supplied, with a paper copy available on request.

Most often for a bank or notarial file, registration with an organisation, an employment contract, a registration application or court proceedings, when the other party cannot read Albanian. Many administrative procedures, on the other hand, are satisfied with a copy of the passport without translation: check before ordering.
Only if the procedure concerns them — proof of presence in the country, calculation of a period of residence, litigation. Otherwise, the data page is enough and the translation remains shorter and less expensive.
The translation remains a faithful rendering of the document it reproduces, but it does not restore validity to an expired document. If your procedure requires a currently valid passport, renew it before ordering the translation.
No, unless the authority states otherwise. The passport does not show parentage, whereas most marriage, naturalisation or family reunification applications rely precisely on it.
