Send all relevant pages, prescriptions and annexes. The patient’s name, date, practitioner’s identity and capacity, signature and stamp must be legible.
Whether an apostille or legalisation is needed depends on the recipient and intended use. Ask for confirmation before translation.
Unreadable handwriting, missing test pages, no signature or cropped medical units may require a clearer copy.
The Albanian or Kosovan medical certificate is not a single, standardised document. Depending on its purpose, it is issued by the family doctor, by the health centre where the patient is registered, by a hospital or by a private practitioner. In Albania, certificates for driving licences are subject to specific regulations.
This variety has a practical consequence: two certificates with the same name may have a very different scope. Before ordering a translation, identify exactly what the French recipient expects — fitness, a diagnosis, a treatment history or a contraindication — as this determines which documents need to be enclosed.
Translation of a medical certificate is requested for an application for exceptional admission to residence on health grounds, for continuing medical follow-up in France with a history passed on, for an application to the MDPH (the departmental centre for people with disabilities), for an insurance or protection policy claim, or to justify an absence or unfitness to an employer or school.
In residence procedures on medical grounds, the certificate is only one element among others: the medical file is examined by a dedicated service, under a regulated and confidential procedure. The sworn translation serves to make the document admissible; it in no way prejudges the decision.
A medical certificate contains health data, which are sensitive data. They are handled with the same confidentiality as the rest of the file: the translation is sent only to the client, files are not reused and are kept only for as long as necessary for the service and for legal obligations.
In substance, the requirement is precision. The names of specialties, drug names, units of measurement in test results and handwritten Albanian abbreviations do not always have a direct equivalent in French. Illegible handwriting or an ambiguous abbreviation leads to a request for clarification rather than an interpretation: on a health document, guessing is not an option.

Yes. Prescriptions, imaging reports, laboratory results and letters between practitioners are translated according to the same rules. List all the documents when ordering: consistent terminology across a complete medical file matters as much as the accuracy of each document taken on its own.

Rarely for everyday medical use, more often when it is submitted in an administrative or court procedure. As always, the receiving authority sets the rule; ask beforehand, as the apostille must come before the translation.
We let you know rather than interpret. On a health document, an approximate reading can have real consequences: it is better to ask the practitioner for a transcription or a typed copy than to deliver an uncertain translation.
