Scan every page showing identity, academic year, programme, dates, signature and institutional stamp. Include every referenced annex.
Requirements vary by school, university or authority. Confirm whether an apostille or legalisation is required before translation.
A missing academic year, cropped programme title, unreadable stamp or missing annex can prevent verification of study.
The term “certificate of studies” covers very different documents: the certificate of current enrolment, the certificate of completion of studies, the annual transcript, the Kosovan dëftesë (end-of-secondary-school certificate), or the certificate issued by a university registry to confirm the years completed.
These documents are issued directly by the institution — school, faculty, academic office — under the supervision of the Albanian or Kosovan Ministry of Education. They do not go through a central office, which explains the variety of formats, letterheads and wording from one institution to another.
Three situations come up constantly: enrolling a child in a French school after a move, where the certificate is used to determine the appropriate year group; continuing into higher education, where the certificate completes the application file; and documenting one's educational background for an employer or training organisation.
There is also a less well-known but frequent use: proving a period of schooling in an application for a “student” residence permit, a renewal, or an exceptional admission to residence, where the continuity of the applicant's education must be established year by year.
Certificates of studies are often the least standardised documents in a file: free format, hand-applied stamp, signature of the person in charge, sometimes old letterhead paper. Send the whole document, uncropped, making sure the institution's letterhead, the stamp and the signature are sharp, as these are the elements that attest to the document's origin.
If your file covers several years, gather all the certificates before ordering. A grouped translation guarantees identical terminology from one year to the next — the same subject title translated in two different ways is enough to make an examiner doubt.

It depends on the procedure. A university admission application generally requires the degree and the transcript; a school enrolment or residence application relies more on certificates of enrolment, which prove the continuity of the applicant's education. If in doubt, ask the receiving institution for the exact list.
The recipient decides. School documents fall within the scope of the apostille in both countries, but many French institutions do without it for a simple certificate of enrolment. Check beforehand: an apostille added after translation means the translation has to be redone.
A photo may be acceptable if it is sharp, taken flat, without glare or shadow, and the letterhead, stamp and signature are perfectly legible. A scan is still preferable, particularly for older documents where the ink has faded.
Some Kosovan documents are bilingual or written in Serbian, particularly in the municipalities concerned or for older documents. Mention this when ordering: the source language determines which translator is competent, and the letterhead of the issuing authority must be correctly identified.
